Proclaiming Our Vision: Church Transfigured
Join us from July 8-10 in San Diego for DignityUSA’s 25th national gathering. Be inspired by religious and social justice thought leaders who will help us envision the future of our work to shape a new Catholic church. And enjoy the warmth and welcome of the DignityUSA community, reuniting with longtime friends and making new connections as we celebrate our history and contemplate the role of our movement in an ever-changing world.
This is our first in-person gathering since 2019, and our first in the time of Covid. With that in mind, we’re taking steps to ensure that we can gather in joy - and safety - such as providing ample meeting space, planning meals on outdoor terraces, and monitoring and adapting to local and national guidance for Covid protocols. Learn more here.
Can you get to San Diego early or stay late? Check out the pre- and post-conference experiences you can share with other Dignity folks, as well as family members who travel with you. Our special hotel rates are available July 4-13, 2022!
We hope to see you in July in San Diego.

With plenary sessions on how migrants bring new perspectives to the mainstream and on how Queer Catholics of Color are adding to LGBTQ+ Liberation Theologies, we’ll consider how DignityUSA can continue to be a beacon for justice-seeking Catholics. Caucus sessions, experiences, and workshops on topics including how one community of religious women has rethought gender and sexuality issues to embracing transformative prayer are sure to energize you. Renew your faith as we share in deeply moving prayer and liturgical experiences. Plus, with entertainment from Grammy-nominated (and married Catholic lesbian) singer Gina Chavez - in addition to opportunities to gather in fun and friendly settings - we’ll be able to share in the joys of community. And, as always, the music, prayer, and reflections from our liturgies and worship services will nourish our spirits.
Along with the conference, DignityUSA is hosting a variety of events before, during, and after:
DignityUSA appreciates the assistance of volunteers who help to make our conference an enjoyable and welcoming experience for all. Please indicate things you may be willing to do to help out before, during, and immediately after our gathering, and our Volunteer or Liturgy Coordinator will be in touch with you around the end of June with further details. Thank you for your help!
DignityUSA’s 25th national conference will be held in San Diego, California Illinois from Friday, July 8 through Sunday, July 10, 2022. The conference will be held in the Westin San Diego Gaslamp District. It is being preceded by a 2 ½ day Leadership Academy, that requires separate application and acceptance. We invite applicants interested in these events, but concerned about the costs associated with attendance, to apply for some of the scholarship funds generously donated by our members and friends.
Applications received by May 15, 2022, will receive first consideration. Those received after that date will be considered only if additional funds are available.
Sponsorship is a gift to DignityUSA that helps to underwrite the cost of the conference and to provide scholarship support to individuals who otherwise could not afford to attend. Your sponsorship gift is considered a general donation to DignityUSA and is tax deductible less the value of benefits. Multiple donors can share any sponsorship. Scholarships are especially important to help our young adult members and others to attend. You will receive name recognition unless indicated otherwise on the return form
